Liverpool may have two games left to play and the club's biggest ever title party still to come.

But it appears the Reds are not resting on their laurels after being crowned Premier League champions.

Liverpool head to Brighton & Hove Albion tonight (Monday, May 18) before welcoming FA Cup winners Crystal Palace to Anfield on Sunday (May 25) after which they will lift the trophy they will then parade around the city on Bank Holiday Monday (May 26).

Head coach Arne Slot and his players have been enjoying some well-deserved downtime before returning to work for the final week of what has been a magnificent campaign.

But behind the scenes at the AXA Training Centre, the Liverpool recruitment team has been busy making moves to bolster Slot's squad as the club aims to defend the top-flight title for the first time since 1984.

It has been reported today that the Reds are in talks to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The left-back is definitely a player who is interesting Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes.

But it would appear Liverpool's first deal of the summer will be the acquisition of flying Bayer Leverkusen and Netherlands right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

The ECHO reported on Sunday (May 18) that Frimpong had undergone the first part of his medical.

And this morning (May 19) journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that the final part of the 24-year-old's medical will take place today along with the signing of his contract.

The Reds have identified Frimpong, who has scored 30 goals and provided 44 assists in 190 appearances for Leverkusen, as the successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid.

And while different players with different skillsets, Frimpong's manager at international level, former Everton boss Ronald Koeman, has already given an insight into what Liverpool supporters can expect from their lightning-fast new boy.

Speaking after the Netherlands' 2-2 draw with Spain in March, Koeman said: "Amazing.

Jeremie (Frimpong) was one we'd discussed; if you can find him quickly and he can approach a full-back, he's lethal.

"To keep his eyes open, especially before the second goal...

His speed is an amazing weapon."

Another big fan of Frimpong has been the man who has managed him at Leverkusen for the past three seasons - Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso.

Alonso, who is also leaving Leverkusen this summer, ahead of an expected move to Real Madrid, said: "Since I got here for the first time, since the first day, Jeremie has been a key player for us and for myself.

"His personality - he brings a lot of joy to the locker room.
