Roy Keane wasn't taken by what he saw from Anthony Gordon in Newcastle United's defeat to Liverpool (Image: Stick to Football/YouTube)Anthony Gordon has come under fire from Manchester United legend Roy Keane, who criticised the former Everton winger's behaviour and that of his Newcastle United team-mates during their five-goal thriller against Liverpool.
The Magpies were defeated 3-2 by the reigning champions at St James' Park on Monday night and had to play the entire second half with only 10 men after Gordon was sent off for a late tackle on Virgil van Dijk.
Keane, while appreciating the physicality of the game, didn't hold back in criticising the reactions of the Newcastle players, particularly singling out Gordon.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, he said: "Isn't football mad?"
"Newcastle kicking Liverpool all over the place, getting stuck in as you do, there's nothing wrong with that.

"I like that physical side of the game, and then anyone touches any of the Newcastle players, they were like rolling around, and (Anthony) Gordon's a prime example.
"You look at Gordon and he falls over!
Well, what were you, what were you doing?".
Keane also criticised Gordon's reckless challenge on Reds captain Van Dijk, adding: "Of course, it was a bad one," reports the Mirror.
"You know what's what's the point?
It's a bad one."
Ryan Gravenberch broke the deadlock for Liverpool before half-time, with Hugo Ekitike extending their advantage straight after the restart.
Bruno Guimaraes managed to pull one back and William Osula looked to have rescued a point for Newcastle in the final moments, but 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha struck in the 10th minute of added time to clinch victory for the Reds.
Initially, Gordon received a yellow card for his reckless tackle on Van Dijk, but the video assistant referee called Simon Hooper to review the incident on the pitchside monitor.
After examining the footage, Hooper overturned his initial judgement and showed the England international a straight red card.
Gordon later released a statement on social media apologising to Van Dijk and Newcastle supporters.
We spoke after and he knows that."
Liverpool return to action on Sunday when they welcome Arsenal to Anfield (4.30pm kick-off) for what is the biggest game of the season so far.
Reds head coach Arne Slot confirmed that Van Dijk has fully recovered from the Gordon challenge while also providing encouraging updates on Alexis Mac Allister, who missed the Newcastle match, and Conor Bradley, who came on during it.

Slot said: "The positive is that Conor Bradley only had one or two training sessions before the Newcastle game but he has trained all this week.
