Roy Keane believes Jurgen Klopp knew what he was doing when he made his Liverpool players hold hands after a 2-2 draw with West Brom in 2015.
The Reds had amassed 11 points from their opening seven Premier League matches under Klopp when they hosted West Brom.
Jordan Henderson scored first before Craig Dawson and Jonas Olsson put West Brom ahead.
A late goal from Divock Origi sparked jubilation at Anfield, with the German celebrating alongside his team.
However, the full-time scenes, which saw the players join hands and celebrate in front of the Anfield crowd, were recalled by Manchester United legend Keane prior to Sunday’s win over Tottenham.
“[That game vs] West Brom, they drew and he’s got them all cheering and holding hands at the end.
He’s a smart cookie.”
Keane continued to delve into Klopp’s renowned man-management style, candidly expressing to former Reds striker Daniel Sturridge that he wasn’t particularly fond of post-match hugs.
“At the end of the season if you win something [I’d have one],” he said.
“I wouldn’t be critical of him.
Everyone’s different and that’s his personality.
“But week in week out… That’s his style of management and it’s obviously worked for him.”
Asked whether he had that kind of treatment under Sir Alex Ferguson, Keane recalled: “Maybe not too many [hugs] but I didn’t want any.
“We were there to do a job and win trophies and that’s the style of that manager.
“Things have changed.
We see most managers now on the pitch every week?
