Ruben Amorim has created a sense of insecurity during his torrid reign at Man United which has filtered down to the players and club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Prior to being announced as the new Benfica manager, Man United were encouraged to get Jose Mourinho to replace Amorim with the Red Devils boss’ concerns mounting over his job security.
The Portuguese’s side lost 3-0 in the Manchester derby last weekend (14 September) with Fernandes slammed for falling asleep for Phil Foden’s Man City opener.
Sources told Football Insider on the 15 September that Man United captain Fernandes is reconsidering his future at the club.
Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce felt that the midfielder is playing with “fear” which could be a reason for the number eight pondering a move away in January.

Discussing United’s woes on No Tippy Tappy Football (16 September), the ex-Sunderland gaffer was concerned about how the Portuguese had so easily given up the chase for Foden’s opener in the Manchester derby.
Host Natalie Pike highlighted the former Udinese talisman’s poor tracking back, saying: “He [Fernandes] didn’t even shut Foden down yesterday (14 September) for that first [goal].”

Allardyce replied: “I know, but you know he [Fernandes] had, you know, that’s communication.
“You know, when when they talk about players not trying, that’s never been the case.
They make start making the wrong decisions.”
United’s go-to man Fernandes has always been the one shining light during the Red Devils toughest spells.
Yet, if the 31-year-old is now playing without courage that could quickly spread amongst the squad which it already appears to have done.
This likely stems from the uncertainty revolving around Amorim during a catastrophic spell at Old Trafford which is only heading on a downwards trajectory.

With the red half of Manchester enduring their worst start to a league campaign since 1992-93 season, fans are turning in their dozens against the struggling manager.
Conversely, Fernandes may be kicking himself after opting to stay with the Red Devils after reported lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.
The Portugal international is most certainly reviewing his long-term future in Manchester and with his contract running until June 2027, the talisman is definitely considering letting it run down.
