Ruben Amorim could have just a few games left in charge to turn his fortunes around as Man United manager.
That is the verdict of former England and Southampton star Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that a major defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, 20 September, could be fatal.
Football Insider understands that Man United are unlikely to sack Amorim, but after losing the Manchester derby last weekend, the Red Devils have just one win in their last five matches.
That includes Man United’s shocking Carabao Cup exit against Grimsby Town, and the team are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table ahead of welcoming the Blues to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have an incredibly difficult test against Enzo Maresca‘s side on the horizon, but with Man United able to welcome back Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount, the task has been made easier.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Amorim’s future at Old Trafford, Le Tissier said: “There is plenty of speculation that Ruben Amorim‘s job at Manchester United might be under threat if they lose at home to Chelsea this weekend.
“I tend to think he’s got a little bit longer than that, unless of course, it is an embarrassing home defeat where they get absolutely battered.
That could change things a little bit.

“But I think Man United will give him a bit more time.
He’s pretty much been told that nothing less than European football is good enough.
Unless results start to pick up in the next three or four games, I think he could be the next manager to go in the Premier League.”
Maresca has confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho is ready to start for Chelsea, which could be rather unfortunate if he performs well against the manager who rejected him over the summer.
The Argentine became part of Amorim’s “bomb squad”, joining the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Hojlund, but he could return to haunt his former manager this weekend.
A goal in front of Old Trafford would certainly silence his doubters following his big-money exit this summer, and the Chelsea boss has no reason not to start him in the clash.
