Rangers are not considering sacking Russell Martin following their 0-0 draw in the Old Firm derby against Celtic at Ibrox.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the manager’s long-term future after a frustrating start to the season.
Four draws from their opening four league games have proved frustrating, but a better display against Celtic has shown clear signs of improvements from the boss.
Football Insider revealed on 26 August that Martin would not be sacked by Rangers regardless of the outcome of the Old Firm derby and despite criticism from fans.
After a clean sheet and a point at home, in a game which everybody expected them to lose, the club remain focused on backing the manager for long-term success.
This comes after Football Insider revealed Rangers are targeting three new signings to back the boss in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on 30 August that Rangers fans could force Martin out with planned protests giving the board “no choice” but to pull the trigger.

Having avoided defeat in his first Old Firm clash, the boss may have won back some favour among the supporters, although there were sections of boos at full time.
O’Rourke explained that even had Rangers lost that game, while it would have piled more pressure on Martin, there are no thoughts of parting ways as things stand.
“I don’t think there’s immediate thought of sacking Russell Martin,” he told Football Insider.
“The start’s not being good enough.
There’s no getting away from that.
“Every old firm game is huge.
This one was probably a lot bigger than recent ones as well.

“Russell Martin desperately needed to win, and if you look around the other way after Celtic’s Champions League defeat, they probably needed to win as well.
“There was a lot at stake in that Old Firm game, but I don’t think it’s the be all and end all with Martin’s job.
“A loss would have increased the pressure on him even more, but I don’t think he would have been sacked even if they’d lost the game.”
Despite the pressure on Martin’s job, there remains a focus on strengthening his squad before the transfer deadline, with deals being worked on behind the scenes.
Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Rangers are working on multiple new signings using the money raised from Hamza Igamane’s move to Lille.

Following their deal to sign Bojan Miovski from Girona, the Ibrox club remain determined to further strengthen their available attacking options.
Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Rangers have agreed terms with Everton’s Youssef Chermiti and are closing in on a £10million agreement with the Toffees.
