Ryan Gravenberch has issued a warning to Liverpool's competitors that recollections of last season's Premier League title triumph will fuel his team's desire to defend their championship.

A graduate of AFC Ajax's renowned youth development programme, the midfielder – who has just become a father – transferred to Anfield from Bayern Munich in September 2023.

Following a difficult debut campaign at the club, the Netherlands international became instrumental in helping the Reds secure a record-equalling 20th league title last term.

Arne Slot's squad clinched the championship - last season - with a commanding 5-1 triumph over Tottenham, and Gravenberch confesses the atmosphere he experienced that day, both pre and post-match, leaves his team eager to defend their title.

He said: "Obviously when we were champions at Anfield, you saw the moments with the fans and everything.

"As a player you want to achieve it again, and give the fans more trophies and more prizes.

"We will try everything and work hard for it."

Gravenberch was instrumental in helping Liverpool win the Premier League crown last season

The midfielder's outstanding displays last season earned him the Premier League Young Player of the Year award, whilst he was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2024/25 earlier this week.

"Really proud - really proud," he told the club's website on his inclusion.

"You worked really hard last season and the recognition from the other players to be in the Team of the Season - I'm really glad and really proud of myself.

"It was really nice [to be at the ceremony], this was actually my first time.

"It was new for me, the red carpet and everything, and I saw the other players as well

It was a really nice event."
