Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both on the lookout for new managers too and are thought to be admirers of Amorim.
It means that Liverpool may have to act fast, if he is the man chosen to succeed Klopp.
Here is the latest speculation about Liverpool's managerial hunt amid claims of an 'agreement' with Amorim, with the Reds being tipped to try and complete transfers for two members of his talented Sporting squad.
Manager alternatives considered?
According to the Daily Mail, reports that Liverpool has made an offer to Amorim are premature.
The Mail adds that negotiations are yet to take place with any candidate.
Liverpool has also been linked with the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann, although Amorim remains the frontrunner for the job, with Sporting top of the Portuguese league table.
Liverpool.com says: The reports of an agreement with Amorim did seem a bit premature and it appears that Liverpool still has a lot to do before deciding on its next manager.
The potential lure of working with Amorim could mean they force Sporting's hand and demand transfers.
