Sadio Mane has told Liverpool’s club website that Yaya Toure was present for their training session in Salzburg on Thursday morning as the Ivorian is working to become a manager.

The former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder is currently a coach at Russian side Akhmat Grozny. And Mane has shared that Toure asked the Liverpool winger to get Jurgen Klopp’s permission to oversee how the 2019/20 Premier League champions work in training.

Toure hung up his playing boots for a coach’s whistle in January of last year, after a 22-year career. He won three top-flight titles with Manchester City and the Champions League while at Barcelona. Now, he is in his second dugout role after leaving Olimpik Donetsk in May.

Mane notes ‘all the boys’, including Liverpool boss Klopp, were happy to see Toure at their pre-season session in Salzburg.

“I said: ‘Yaya, do you think it is the best idea to come to watch our training?!’ He said, ‘My friend, I’m coming there! Just ask your boss!’

“He is a very, very good guy and I have known him since 2004. He’s a good friend of mine, so we always keep in touch and when he asked me if I can ask the boss whether he can come to watch training, I said, ‘With pleasure’. And I think the boss was happy to have Yaya with us today to watch training and learn something because I wish him all the best.

“He wants to be a manager in the future and all the boys were happy to see him, to have a quick conversation with him and have a little bit of a talk about City and Liverpool. It was nice to meet him again.”

Toure enjoyed a very successful career as a player and would do well to enjoy similar success as a manager. And there are not many better coaches in the game the Ivorian can learn from than Klopp. Making Toure’s relationship with Liverpool star Mane very beneficial.

Klopp is one of the best managers around, after turning a confidence-stricken Reds squad into European and domestic title winners. The German also guided the Anfield outfit into the Champions League places last season, despite juggling a raft of injuries.

So, as Toure finds his feet in the dugout, seeing how Klopp works will have helped, thanks to Liverpool’s Mane. And, if anything, his presence in the Reds’ camp was a long time coming. The Ivorian hailed the German for creating ‘superstars’, via the Daily Mail, last year.
