Mohamed Salah has three records in his sights before the end of the season, after Graeme Souness called the Liverpool forward "selfish" following the 3-1 win over Brighton.

Although painted as a criticism elsewhere, the former Reds captain actually meant it as a compliment when he spoke about Salah's single-minded approach to scoring goals.

Salah netted a brace in the victory at the Amex Stadium, and he also played a part in Jordan Henderson's strike from distance as the champions chalked up a 30th win in their 34 games this season.

"He was at it tonight from the first minute," Souness told Sky Sports.

"I think it [the Golden Boot] is important to him.

"You’ve seen his reaction when people weren’t finding him late on in the game in the last third.

"He was shooting at every opportunity, and his teammates will not have been happy with him on two or three occasions.

"But he’s always selfish. I think tonight he was super selfish. He really wants his Golden Boot."

And should Salah secure that Golden Boot then he would be the first player in 23 years to win it in three successive seasons, after Alan Shearer between 1994/95 and 1996/97.

The Egyptian is currently on 19 strikes for the season, behind only Jamie Vardy (22) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (20), who shared the award with Salah and Liverpool's Sadio Mane with 22 strikes last season. Salah scored a 38-game season record 32 goals in 2017/18.

The second landmark Salah will have in his sights is reaching 100 goals for Liverpool in all competitions before the end of the campaign.

He's currently on 94 goals in 148 appearances as he bids to become the 17th player to score a century of goals for the Reds.

The third record, of course, is Liverpool's attempt to beat Manchester City's total of 100 Premier League points set two years ago.

The Reds need nine more points from their four remaining games to pass that total, something that they surely will if Salah meets his personal targets.
