Liverpool are still on the hunt for ways to improve their first-team squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the Reds will be gunning for both the Premier League and Champions League this season, but at the moment, it still feels like a couple of new faces need to be brought in for that to become a reality.

The Sweden international has been Liverpool’s number one target since the transfer window first opened at the start of June, and even though a deal seemed to be off for a short while, it now seems like Isak is more out at St James’ Park than he is in.

And, while speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Sam Allardyce gave his thoughts on how the Isak situation has been handled.

“We have to try and change something, in my opinion, certainly with the sort of money that’s branded about,” Allardyce said.

“What about one big owner who has got big enough, I can’t say the word because it’s not, it begins with B, big enough b’s to go ‘I’m going to destroy your career’, what about that?

“Sit there and rot.”

Although there’s no hiding from the fact that Isak is one of the world’s best strikers at the moment, the way he’s conducted himself to get his move to Liverpool is somewhat questionable.

However, seeing as though he’s already acted like this once to try and force his way out, if another team, such as Real Madrid, made a move for him in a couple of years, who’s to say he wouldn’t act the same?

Of course, Liverpool are a massive club themselves, but as shown by players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, it’s hard to deny how big a club Real Madrid actually are.

These are all just ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could end up happening before the transfer window closes.
