Erling Haaland is set to spearhead a new-look Manchester City side next season as Savinho’s future is thrown into doubt.
Man City‘s pre-season has been a unique one after their 2024–25 campaign was delayed by involvement in this summer’s Club World Cup, and Pep Guardiola‘s players only returned to training at the end of July.
Guardiola’s squad is undergoing arguably its most significant transition since the 2017–18 season, with over £150million spent so far and Man City bringing in four new signings prior to the Club World Cup.
Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders will all hope to start Man City’s first Premier League match against Wolves on 16 August, but another recent arrival’s future is far less certain at the Etihad Stadium.

Cherki, Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden would all be in contention to start out wide in City’s Premier League opener, but the Brazilian could instead be bound for the exit door this week.
The Athletic reported on 11 August that Tottenham have launched a surprise approach for Savinho with a bid of roughly £43.3m discussed, albeit Man City are expected to demand well over £50m for the winger.

Savinho came off the bench at half-time of City’s 3-0 friendly win over Palermo on 9 August, and set up the first of Reijnders‘ two goals after skipper Haaland had given Guardiola’s side the lead in Sicily.
Haaland posted on Instagram (10 August) having donned the armband for the first hour of the match, and in a message liked by Savinho, he said: “Always a great time in Italy!
Until next time”.

Football Insider Verdict
Kevin De Bruyne and ‘s departures have heralded the start of a new era at the Etihad, but Man City selling Savinho would come as a shock given he’s one of the newer faces in Guardiola’s squad.
Man City’s priority this summer has been to move on more out-of-favour wide options such as James McAtee and Jack Grealish, and it’s unclear if they will come to an agreement with Tottenham for Savinho.
Grealish and McAtee‘s exits are edging ever closer, but with Spurs offering far more money for Savinho than City could hope to earn from either of their English playmakers, the Brazilian could well be on the move this summer.
