Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia shared an emotional message to a teammate after he suffered an injury whilst on international break.
Chelsea have made a steady start to the season with two wins and a draw from their first three Premier League games of the campaign.
One player that hasn’t featured is Lavia due to a muscle injury that has kept him out since the summer.
Chelsea supporters called for the club to sell Lavia due to his lack of appearances and impact ever since his £58 million signing.
While he has returned to training, the midfielder will likely not be considered for the fixture against Brentford on 13 September.
While he deals with his own injury struggles, he has sent a supportive message to another teammate, who has now suffered a major injury.
Lavia moved from Southampton to Chelsea in 2023.
Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo confirmed that he suffered a thigh injury whilst on international duty for Portugal’s Under-21s.

He has also confirmed that he has undergone successful surgery, and Lavia dedicated a message to his teammate following the news.
The Englishman posted his message on his own story and captioned his post with: “Scary times incoming (not for us) knowing you’ll be back stronger and better Pepeno!”

Essugo joined Chelsea from Sporting CP earlier in the summer on an eight-year contract until the summer of 2033, for a fee of around £18.5 million.
The midfielder featured in the Club World Cup but hasn’t accumulated any minutes in the Premier League before his injury.
With Lavia already sidelined, Maresca must now contend with another absence in midfield.
Having failed to secure a new signing in the middle of the park before the window closed, Chelsea could be left light in that area over the coming weeks.

The Blues had explored the possibility of signing a new midfielder this summer, and they are likely to continue their pursuit in January.
Football Insider revealed Chelsea are still interested in Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez after having a deadline-day move rejected.
It’s still uncertain whether Lopez would be open to the switch to West London given his commitment to his boyhood club, but Chelsea’s interest has not cooled as they look to bolster their options in midfield.
