Another club has entered the race for Stefan Bajcetic, according to the latest reports.
Liverpool midfielder is drawing interest from multiple clubs after an encouraging loan stint with Las Palmas.
The 20-year-old showed flashes of his potential during his time in Spain, despite the club’s eventual relegation from La Liga.
Unfortunately, Bajcetic is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury sustained during Las Palmas’ loss to Sevilla in May.
He has been absent from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia and now faces a tight recovery window as he begins rehabilitation in hopes of returning in time for the start of the new season.
This latest setback adds to a string of injury troubles that have disrupted his progress since his breakthrough 2022/23 campaign.
After making 19 first-team appearances that season, a serious injury in March 2023 ruled him out for the remainder of the year.
His return was short-lived, with a calf issue further limiting him to just two appearances over the next 14 months.
Bajcetic featured under new manager Arne Slot during last summer’s pre-season and was initially loaned to Red Bull Salzburg.
He then joined Las Palmas, where he regained form and confidence.
Despite earning a recall to Spain’s U21 squad, his latest injury ruled him out of the UEFA European U21 Championship.
Now, with several clubs monitoring his situation, Bajcetic’s future remains uncertain as he works toward full fitness and a fresh start.
About two weeks ago, it was reported that Real Betis, Valencia, and Rayo Vallecano are all interested in signing him.
According to the latest report from TEAMtalk, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are now considering a move for Bajcetic.
“Celtic are still actively looking for more players in the transfer market, with sources telling TEAMtalk that the Hoops set their sights on Liverpool midfielder Bajcetic,” the report said.
“Sources have told TEAMtalk that Liverpool are open to letting the highly-rated 20-year-old Spanish midfielder leave in the summer transfer window, with a loan-to-buy deal being the likely structure.
However, Bajcetic’s high valuation could pose another challenge for Celtic, who are cautious about overextending their budget.”
As Stefan Bajcetic continues his recovery, interest in the young midfielder is steadily growing, with Celtic now joining a list of suitors that includes Real Betis, Valencia, and Rayo Vallecano.
Liverpool appear open to a departure under the right conditions, likely through a loan-to-buy arrangement?
However, the player’s valuation may prove to be a stumbling block, particularly for clubs with tighter budgets like Celtic.
For Bajcetic, the coming weeks will be crucial — both in terms of regaining full fitness and deciding the next step in his career.
Whether he remains at Anfield or seeks a fresh start elsewhere, one thing is clear: clubs across Europe still believe in his potential.
