Bryan Mbeumo took drastic action to ensure that Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir kept his head up in their comprehensive defeat to rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

On 14 September, Man United met Man City at the Etihad Stadium, with Ruben Amorim’s side vying for their second consecutive win in the Premier League.

However, the Red Devils were instead beaten 3-0 in the Manchester Derby, thanks to Phil Foden’s first-half header, and Erling Haaland’s second-half brace.

Meanwhile, Amorim selected Bayindir at the Etihad Stadium, despite signing fellow goalkeeper Senne Lammens in the summer transfer window.

Despite failing to perform for Man United last term, striker Rasmus Hojlund scored on his Napoli debut on Saturday, 13 September.

The Red Devils faithful were subsequently frustrated once more at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola’s side racing to a comfortable win over their cross-city rivals.

Meanwhile, in a moment that will have been missed by the vast majority of supporters, Manchester United summer signing Mbeumo screamed at Bayindir to keep the goalkeeper’s head up, once his side were 3-0 down.

After guiding the Old Trafford club to a lowly finish in the Premier League last season, Amorim needed to have a strong start to the new season.

However, Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Grimsby Town last month, majorly damaging their chances of winning silverware.

Furthermore, Amorim’s men have now won just one of their opening four Premier League games, enduring one draw and suffering two defeats, including a humiliating loss to fierce rivals Manchester City.

Therefore, Amorim could be at risk of being sacked by the Man United hierarchy, having overseen a largely poor tenure since taking the managerial reins last November.

The Red Devils’ poor performance against Guardiola’s side suggests that they will also struggle in their next Premier League game against Chelsea on Saturday, 20 September.

Meanwhile, the Old Trafford faithful may already be concerned by the prospect of their side encountering league leaders Liverpool on 19 October.
