As a follow-up to Burnley's historic win at Anfield, Sean Dyche couldn't do better than becoming the first English manager since Harry Redknapp to win a major trophy.
Dyche could become the first English manager since Harry Redknapp to win a major trophy - Redknapp winning the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008.The competition is the best chance of success for Dyche and Fulham boss Scott Parker who meet in the fourth round on Sunday aware there is a winnable tie against Bournemouth or Crawley in round five.
Dyche understands the profile of English managers will rise if they were able to take a lap of honour.
I think it's good for our game,' says Dyche.
'I've been considered successful because of the size of Burnley and what we've achieved but to be truly visually successful to everyone, of course winning a trophy is going to be of great benefit.
The pandemic has meant Dyche has so far been restricted to discussing Burnley's future with their new American owners via Zoom. The win at Anfield confirmed Dyche's importance and why he wouldn't want to rip up the model that has served the club well.
Dyche was captain of Chesterfield when they reached the semi-finals in 1997.
