Liverpool is set to journey across Stanley Park for a midweek clash with Everton at Goodison Park, with the match kicking off at 8pm GMT this evening.
This comes just days after their 3-1 triumph over Fulham on Sunday, leaving little time for rest before the Merseyside derby.
Everton, struggling near the relegation zone and battling the consequences of point deductions, are in desperate need of a positive result.
Everton’s season has been tumultuous, hovering near the bottom of the table, and their situation is exacerbated by multiple points deductions.
Without these penalties, Sean Dyche’s squad would be positioned safely in 14th place, ahead of teams like Crystal Palace and Brentford, highlighting their resilience under challenging circumstances.
Managed by Sean Dyche, the Toffees will look to frustrate the Reds and potentially ruin Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League this season.
Jurgen Klopp is likely hopeful that Liverpool’s recent win in West London has put their scoring woes behind them.
As the Reds gear up for this crucial encounter, their preparation will be key in maintaining momentum and tackling the challenges of such a quick succession of high-stakes games.
Liverpool will be without key man Diogo Jota, with Jurgen Klopp confirming in his pre-Everton press conference that Jota would be out for at least two weeks.
The Toffees are also set be missing up to five players ahead of the Merseyside Derby.
What did Sean Dyche say about the Merseyside derby and Everton fans?
Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, Dyche pointed out the positive effect that the Goodison Park faithful had during Everton’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The former Burnley manager wants more of the same against Liverpool this evening:
“[Sunday] was fantastic, I thought,” Dyche told evertonfc.com.
“Because it’s not easy, myself and the team were way off and let ourselves down against Chelsea.”
“To respond with fans being in full voice and behind us was a brilliant thing – I couldn’t be more pleased with that side.
And the players delivering a performance.”
“Very strong performance physically and giving everything for the shirt?
I said that was one thing I could guarantee.”
“That was obviously not on show in the previous game but it was against Forest.”
Dyche then asked the Everton crowd to give him more of the same against their bitter rivals:
“The stats back that, the physical stats and the amount of ground covered.”
“The willingness and desire to work hard for the team and for the badge.”
“The crowd saw that and they definitely had an effect from the off.”
“Straight away, the positivity and the feel in the stadium was spot on and I can only ask for more of that.”
