Nat Phillips will become Liverpool’s second defensive departure this week.
Phillips arrived at Anfield in summer 2019 from Bolton Wanderers and went on to make 29 appearances in all competitions during his next six years at the club.
The 28-year-old rose to prominence during the 2020/21 campaign when he featured 20 times as the Reds battled an unprecedented injury crisis under Jurgen Klopp.
But Phillips had to pursue first-team opportunities elsewhere with loan spells at Burnemouth, Celtic, Cardiff City and Derby County across the next three years.
Now the centre-back is set to follow Bayer Leverkusen-bound Jarell Quansah in sealing a permanent exit from Liverpool when his contract expires in late June..
West Bromwich Albion are understood to have won the race for Phillips’ signature despite strong interest from Championship newcomers Wrexham in recent weeks.
