Another Serie A club are reportedly preparing to open negotiations with Liverpool over a potential move for Federico Chiesa, as the Italian international’s future at Anfield grows increasingly uncertain.
Signed with high expectations, Chiesa has failed to live up to his billing during a frustrating spell in England.
Injuries, tactical mismatches, and intense competition for places have limited his minutes and impact in a Liverpool shirt.
Since joining from Juventus, the Italian winger has found himself behind the likes of Luis Díaz, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo in the pecking order.
His lack of consistent playing time has not only affected his form but also raised concerns about his long-term role under new manager Arne Slot.
With Liverpool undergoing a squad reshaping process this summer, the club appears open to letting Chiesa leave if the right offer arrives.
The player himself is keen on leaving, with a move back to the Serie A top his preferred option.
Napoli, AC Milan and Atalanta have been mooted as possible destinations.
A recent report from The Athletic revealed that Atalanta will make a move for Chiesa after they complete the sale of Ademola Lookman.
However, another report from Italy claims that AC Milan will establish significant contact in the coming days regarding the signing of Chiesa.
“The summer transfer market is heating up, and AC Milan is moving decisively to strengthen their squad for next season.
Among the hottest names on the Rossoneri management’s radar, Federico Chiesa stands out for his importance and urgency,” the MilanNews report said.
“According to transfer market expert Alfonso Sciascia, the Rossi club is closely monitoring the winger’s situation, and significant contact between the parties is expected in the coming days.
This development promises to be followed with the utmost interest.
“AC Milan’s interest in Chiesa is nothing new, but it’s now taking on a more defined profile.
Chiesa, known for his speed, incisive dribbling, and powerful shot, would represent a top-notch addition to the Rossoneri’s attack, capable of adding unpredictability and goals.
“His international experience , both with Juventus and the Italian national team, as well as Liverpool, makes him an even more attractive prospect for a Milan side aiming to compete at the highest levels , both in Italy and Europe.”
A move back to Serie A could provide a much-needed reset for Chiesa.
At 26, he still has time to re-establish himself at the top level, and Milan could offer the ideal platform for him to do just that?
All signs point to a crucial few weeks ahead for both the player and the two clubs involved.
