Sergio Aguero has offered words of encouragement to Darwin Nunez, advising him “not to panic” amid his goal-scoring drought with Liverpool.
The former Man City forward also commended the impact that compatriot Alexis Mac Allister has made at Anfield since his £35 million move from Brighton last summer.
Nunez has faced challenges in recent weeks, struggling to find the back of the net despite a promising start to the season with the Reds.
Speaking to Stake, Aguero emphasized the importance of self-belief, reassuring Nunez that goals will come with persistence.
Although Nunez has missed several significant chances for Liverpool, the talented forward has showcased his potential by scoring 22 goals in all competitions this season.
However, one aspect he could focus on is enhancing his consistency in front of goal.
Nunez could further refine his decision-making skills and enhance his off-the-ball movement to create additional scoring opportunities.
Aguero said: “I’m sure mine is probably the same advice his team-mates or his manager must be giving him… ‘keep on trying.’
“That’s key, and more so in a goalscorer like him.
You’ve got to respect that.’
Another tip Sergio Aguero would offer to the Liverpool forward is to maintain a positive mindset and stay focused on the process.
Aguero understands the pressure that comes with being a top striker and emphasizes the importance of staying mentally strong, even during challenging times.
By staying composed and believing in his abilities, Nunez can overcome any obstacles and continue to thrive on the field.
“Don’t panic,” the former Barcelona forward added.
“That’s what I thought to myself when I spent many games without scoring.
“I’d tell myself that goals will be soon to come, and surely enough, they did.”
Meanwhile, Mac Allister has been making a significant impact at Liverpool.
The talented midfielder has garnered praise for his standout performances, earning admiration from both fans and experts alike.
Aguero, in particular, has been impressed by Mac Allister’s ability to seamlessly integrate into the club and make an immediate impact.
He said: “I’m sure his stint at Brighton has helped him get accustomed to the Premier League, so he was able to hit the ground running at Liverpool.
“I’m very happy for him.”
