Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on Darwin Nunez as the club explores options for a new striker.
Nunez might already know that his time at Anfield is nearing its end.
With the club having signed Hugo Ekitike and also possibly targeting Isak, leaving Merseyside could be the right choice for the Uruguayan forward.
Many clubs have shown interest in the 26-year-old since the beginning of June.
Serie A champions Napoli were among the top contenders interested in him.
Antonio Conte’s side reportedly held talks with the Merseyside club over Nunez.
However, the deal didn’t go through—Liverpool’s asking price may have been the reason Napoli backed off.
According to Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor, AC Milan has made initial contact with Liverpool regarding Nunez as they explore a potential move.
However, no formal offer has been submitted by the Serie A side yet.

Earlier reports from Ben Jacobs suggest that Saudi giants Al-Hilal are pushing to agree personal terms with Nunez before submitting any formal bid to Liverpool.
Liverpool’s asking price is reportedly close to €70m—the same fee Al-Nassr offered back in January for the Uruguayan.
If Nunez decides to move to Saudi Arabia this summer, it would be extremely advantageous for the Merseyside club.
The funds from the transfer could potentially be used to acquire talented Swedish striker Alexander Isak, whose price is estimated to be around £130 million according to multiple reports.
