Serie A champions Napoli are the latest club to express strong interest in Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez, with the Italian giants reportedly in contact with the Reds over a potential summer deal.

According to Football Italia, the Partenopei see Núñez as a marquee reinforcement for Antonio Conte’s frontline as they prepare for a Champions League campaign.

While Saudi clubs such as Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr have tabled lucrative offers for the Uruguayan international, Núñez is understood to favour staying in Europe, specifically Italy or Spain.



The Reds have already turned down an £80 million bid from Al-Nassr in January, and that valuation remains the benchmark.

With Napoli and Atletico Madrid circling, and Saudi money never far behind, Liverpool are in a strong position.

The club must now decide whether to cash in this summer or offer a fresh start elsewhere on loan.

Napoli may promise Champions League football and a high-profile project under Conte, but unless they meet Liverpool’s valuation, or structure a deal that benefits the Reds long-term, FSG and the recruitment team are unlikely to budge.

Liverpool have been smart sellers in recent years, and this situation will be no different.

If Núñez departs, Liverpool will be better positioned to reinvest in a more tactically tailored forward, potentially someone who thrives under Slot’s system and complements the emerging frontline of Cody Gakpo, Luis Díaz, Mohamed Salah and potentially Florian Wirtz.

With Julian Alvarez also linked, the Reds are playing this one with patience and purpose.
