The Italian continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer.

Federico Chiesa’s time at the club has been far from smooth sailing.

Arriving as Liverpool’s only notable addition last summer, Chiesa featured on the pitch for the Reds just 14 times, playing 466 minutes across all competitions.

An Arne Slot decision that confused many from the outside, but on the inside, it was clear the Dutchman knew what he was doing as Liverpool cruised to an extremely impressive Premier League title win during his debut season in charge.

Fast forward to this summer and it appears that the Italian’s fortunes are not set for a major twist, as Arne Slot continues to view him as a player on the periphery of his squad at best, and a move away now makes the most sense for him.

Federico Chiesa has made it clear that a return to the Serie A is his preferred choice, and it has now been revealed that Napoli have reignited interest in the winger.

Accoridng to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli had been caught in two minds over whether to pursue a deal for a winger or a full-back.

After missing out on Swiss forward Dan Ndoye to Nottingham Forest they turned their attention to Giron defender Miguel Gutierrez but that deal has now been put on hold.

Federico Chiesa is amongst the names linked to Napoli.

He is not the only winger from the Premier League linked to the Serie A champions though.

Raheem Sterling of Chelsea and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish are also drawing interest, as the trio are all touted as options for Antonio Conte’s side.

A sign of positivity for Chiesa is that he earns significantly less than Sterling and Grealish and is therefore much closer to being within Napoli’s budget.

It is clear that Chiesa’s playing time will once again be extremely limited for Liverpool next season.

The signing of Hugo Ekitike and the potential arrival of Alexander Isak has seemingly sealed the fate of the Italian.

It is within the best interest of both parties that Chiesa finds a new club next season.
