Sheffield United supporters haven’t held back as a frustrating summer transfer window continues at Bramall Lane.
The Blades were consigned to a summer of change in the cruellest possible circumstances at Wembley, losing 2-1 to Tommy Watson’s goal for Sunderland in the last minutes of the Championship play-off final.
The fallout at Bramall Lane in the months since has seen Chris Wilder mutually agree to terminate his contract and Ruben Selles hired to replace him, with several key players already sold off for big money.
Blades fans have already seen five members of Sheffield United‘s play-off final starting XI leave the club and arrivals have been hard to come by, with just three permanent and loan signings made respectively.
Further exits are expected with the likes of Leeds United and Eredivisie champions PSV keeping tabs on Gustavo Hamer, and it’s unclear what Selles’ side will look like for their first match in just four days time.

The summer transfer window has been brutal at Bramall Lane and August has taken those difficulties to new heights, with Rhian Brewster completing a move to Derby County after his Blades contract expired.

Brewster has failed to hit the heights at Bramall Lane ever since his £23.5million move from Liverpool in 2020, and his move to Pride Park comes after he made just 106 league appearances over five years.
Selles’ attacking ranks took a further hit on 5 August as Wrexham confirmed the £2m signing of Kieffer Moore, after the promoted side expressed interest in signing the Sheffield United striker last month.
Tuesday proved to be a double-whammy for Blades fans as Anel Ahmedhodzic also completed a £15.6m move to Feyenoord, leaving Selles without three key members of last season’s promotion push.

Brewster and Moore may have only scored nine league goals between them last season, but losing both strikers and Ben Brereton Diaz returning to Southampton leaves Selles’ side massively short of options.
A dearth of defensive depth has also been exposed by Ahmedhodzic’s transfer despite the sizeable fee brought in from Feyenoord, and leaves the Blades in a race against time to make the additions they need.
Sheffield United fans are therefore anything but optimistic ahead of their Championship opener against Swansea, the overriding consensus was that the Blades “need to get a move on” to prevent a “very, very painful” season.
