On Sunday , 47 people were injured when a car collided with fans on Water Street in the city centre, with 27 requiring hospital treatment.

Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims, confirmed a 53-year-old white British man was arrested at the scene, and the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

David Kitchin of the North West Ambulance Service confirmed that 20 patients were treated at the scene for minor injuries, not requiring hospital admission.

However, 27 patients were taken to hospital by ambulance, with two, including one child, believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The incident has left a profound impact on the city, prompting a heartfelt response from former Liverpool player and manager Dalglish, who stated via social media: "Shocked, horrified and deeply saddened about what happened at the end of the parade today.
