Luis Diaz heading to Bayern Munich after agreement was struck over a £65million deal is the latest step in the summer overhaul being overseen by Arne Slot.

The Reds boss and sporting director Richard Hughes have been working hard during the transfer window to prepare the squad for their defence of the Premier League title won so emphatically last season, with more than £250m having already been committed to new players with more expected to arrive.

Diaz is poised to become the fifth senior player to depart the Liverpool squad this summer with Bayern having thrashed out a deal to sign the 28-year-old Colombian winger.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the first to go during the initial transfer window at the start of June after Real Madrid agreed to cough up £8.4m for a player who was a free agent a month later, purely so he could feature in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold was injured as Real were thumped in the semi-final by Paris Saint-Germain.

Caoimhin Kelleher left shortly afterwards for Brentford in a £18m package, while later in the month saw Nat Phillips join Championship side West Bromwich Albion in a £3m deal.

The start of July then saw Jarell Quansah make a move to Bayer Leverkusen that could eventually see Liverpool be handed £35m.

A number of loan deals have already been agreed with Vitezslav Jaros spending the season at Ajax, fellow goalkeeper Harvey Davies going to League Two side Crawley Town and left-back Owen Beck heading to Championship side Derby County.

With Diaz on his way, attention will now turn to the rest of the Liverpool forward line and who could be moved on as the Reds consider a swoop for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Darwin Nunez is the most valuable asset and is likely to leave despite a strong start to pre-season.

AC Milan continue to assess developments but Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are the more likely suitors at present, with Liverpool wanting in excess of £50m for the Uruguayan.

Federico Chiesa wants a return to Italy ahead of next summer's World Cup with a number of Serie A sides interested.

He reportedly resisted interest from Forest earlier this summer with West Ham United and former club Fulham among those pondering a move.

Tyler Morton, who like Elliott helped England retain the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this summer, didn't play a minute in the Premier League last season and is a target for both Lyon and West Ham.

And a surfeit of left-backs could see one of Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas leave.

Robertson had been wanted by Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer before the Spaniards moved for Matteo Ruggeri of Atalanta.
