RB Leipzig have approached Liverpool to sign Harvey Elliott as a potential replacement for Xavi Simons, who is nearing a move to Chelsea.
Leipzig signed Simons permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January for €50m and now value him at €70m.
Elliott struggled for minutes under Arne Slot last season, starting just six of 28 games and only once in the league after the title was secured.
Despite limited action, he registered five goals and three assists.
Speaking to The Anfield Wrap in Asia, he admitted he wants to stay at Liverpool but will weigh up his future based on playing opportunities.
“If I had it my way I would be here for the rest of my career, it’s as simple as that,” Elliott said.
“I love everything about the club, but at the same time I kind of need to be selfish and see what’s best for me.
“I have big ambitions.
It’s something I still need to review.
“I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation.
It’s something I need to have a look at and decide.”
Harvey Elliott scored in Monday’s 4-1 friendly win over Athletic Bilbao as he featured in the first game at Anfield.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has provided the latest update on Leipzig’s pursuit of the England youth international.
Plettenberg posted on X: “Harvey #Elliott and RB Leipzig are already in advanced talks over personal terms.
Leipzig want him, as revealed days ago.
“Concrete negotiations between the clubs are expected to follow once a verbal agreement is in place.
Important: Elliott is keen to join Leipzig.”
