Sky Germany has revealed when a Florian Wirtz medical could happen.
Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign the Germany attacking midfielder in a deal that could set a new British transfer record.
According to widespread reports, the Premier League champions have agreed to pay a guaranteed £100 million with an additional £16 million in performance-related add-ons for the 22-year-old playmaker.
The transfer fee comprises £100 million upfront with £16 million in add-ons that are primarily linked to Liverpool achieving major trophy success with Wirtz in the team.
Liverpool successfully fended off intense competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester City for Wirtz’s signature
Manchester City withdrew from negotiations after citing concerns over the financial commitment required to complete the deal.
The player’s preference for a move to Anfield ultimately proved decisive, with reports suggesting Wirtz was impressed by Arne Slot’s tactical vision and Liverpool’s project presented to him.
Once completed, the transfer will establish multiple records: Wirtz will become the most expensive German player in history, surpassing Kai Havertz’s €80 million move to Chelsea in 2020.
The deal would also make him the most expensive signing in both Bundesliga and Premier League history should all add-ons be achieved.
Now Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has revealed when Wirtz’s medical could happen.
Taking to X, the Bundesliga insider suggested that the German international will have his medical after Wednesday next week, with it being scheduled for some time after that date.
“Final details have been settled in the last few hours: Liverpool are set to pay a fixed fee of around €130-135 million for Florian Wirtz!”
“Understand he will sign a contract at least until 2030.
Including potential bonuses (such as winning the Champions League, etc.), the total package could rise to up to €150 million.”
“Medical scheduled for next week.
Wirtz is officially on holiday until Wednesday.”
