Sky Sports have named five attackers that Liverpool are looking at ahead of the off-season rapidly approaching.
Liverpool are poised for one of their busiest summer transfer windows in recent memory, with widespread reports indicating significant squad reinforcements as Arne Slot aims to build on their Premier League triumph.
The club’s hierarchy, determined to avoid the stagnation that followed their 2019/20 title, is reportedly ready to back Slot with substantial funds to fend off resurgent rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Premier League confirmed the summer transfer window will open briefly from June 1–10 (aligning with the FIFA Club World Cup) before resuming June 16–September 1.
This staggered timeline allows Liverpool to act swiftly in a market where key targets are already identified.
Despite posting a £57 million pre-tax loss for 2023/24, the Reds’ record £614 million revenue-driven by commercial growth (£308 million) and Anfield expansion-ensures compliance with financial rules.
Speaking to the BBC at the start of the year, Arne Slot confirmed the club was doing the background work then already:
“Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League.
I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level.”
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well.
There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”
“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
There has been plenty of talk about the forward ranks needing a reshuffle.
So who is Liverpool looking at?
According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thompson, it seems quite a few.
Writing in the Transfer Centre, the journalist revealed:
“Liverpool will not stand still this summer and rest on their laurels; the club want to be busy in the transfer market and strengthen their squad in order to go again next year and develop the next Liverpool title-winning team,” he wrote.
“Liverpool’s priorities are a new striker, winger and left-back and they will want to try and do business as early in the window as they can.”
“At striker, they have been interested in Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko among others, while wingers including Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo are on their radar.”
Plenty has been said on Alexander Isak, with the likes of David Ornstein labelling it a very unrealistic transfer.
Victor Osimhen seems like the last player Liverpool would bring to the club, as his wage demands are excessive, and may not have the personality Arne Slot is looking for.
While Benjamin Sesko is an interesting option, he echoes the transfer of Darwin Nunez in 2022 – a raw striker with lots of potential, but needing some refinement and years to grow.
The Reds arguably need a striker who can come in immediately and score goals.
Bryan Mbeumo remains one of the Premier League’s most underrated performers?
Since joining Brentford, he has delivered 40 goals and 27 assists in 131 top-flight appearances.
In a team like Liverpool, those numbers will surely get better.
