After three years on Merseyside, Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool tenure expected to conclude this summer, with the Uruguayan forward open to a move away from Anfield.

In 2024/25 he featured 47 times across all competitions but started only eight Premier League matches, contributing seven goals despite his tireless pressing and occasional flashes of brilliance.

The arrivals of Hugo Ekitike and the pursuit of Alexander Isak signalled Liverpool’s intent to refresh their forward line, leaving Nunez surplus to requirements.

In his most recent campaign, the Uruguayan managed just seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions, a return that fell far short of expectations for a player of his price tag.

It is surprising that Nunez is still at the club after Napoli showed serious interest but were not willing to meet Liverpool’s €70m valuation.

While Al-Hilal has reignited their interest in the Uruguayan in recent days, a new prospector has emerged on the scene.

That’s according to Vinny O’Connor of Sky Sports, who has reported that AC Milan are now firmly in the mix with contact made with Liverpool already:

“AC Milan have made an initial approach to Liverpool for Darwin Nunez,” he wrote.

“Milan are trying to sign him and contact has now been made between the clubs.”

“The Serie A side are yet to make an offer – and there are other interested clubs, including Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia.”

“Sky Sports News reported at the beginning of the window that Nunez was hoping for a move to Spain or Europe ahead of anything further afield.”

“According to Sky in Italy, Al-Hilal have also not yet made any bid but they are keeping an eye on Nunez.”
