DaveOCKOP reported this Monday morning that the saga is set to go down to the wire.
And it looks like that could be the case.
Sky Sports News’ Chris Reidy has revealed that Brighton’s Igor Julio, who is currently seen as the final domino for Marc Guehi to depart, could still not join Palace despite undergoing a medical with the Eagles.
That’s because his head could still be turned by West Ham:
“Sky Sports News understands Brighton centre-back Igor Julio is still a consideration for West Ham – throwing Marc Guehi’s Liverpool future into further doubt.”
“Palace will not let Guehi leave until they have a suitable replacement – Igor is currently undergoing a medical with Palace.”
“If West Ham were to come in with a late bid and take Igor from under Palace’s noses, Guehi would likely be told he would have to stay at Selhurst Park.”
UPDATE:
It seems the stance is changing almost as fast as the information is coming in.
Live Sky Sports coverage have instead now claimed that “Brighton working hard to seal Igor loan to Crystal Palace, he’s only going to Palace.”
Crystal Palace always wanted two defenders to replace Marc Guehi, and they are now set to get their wish after already agreeing a deal for Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot.
Should the South Londoners get Igor Julio over the line, Guehi is in a prime position to make the switch to Anfield.
