Arne Slot has confirmed Liverpool have agreed a deal for Giovanni Leoni.
Leoni is set to become Anfield’s ninth summer arrival after the Premier League champions brokered a package understood to be worth £26 million with Parma.
The young centre-back is one of two defensive options that the Reds have pursued in the market as they also aim to convince Crystal Palace to part with Marc Guehi.
Leoni’s proposed transfer to Merseyside expected to be finalised later on Thursday with a medical expected to take place after he flew in from his native Italy.
However Slot remained tight-lipped on efforts to land Guehi with Oliver Glasner’s side yet to sanction a deal for their captain in the final 12 months of his contract.
He said: “The club have agreed a deal, but he hasn’t signed for us yet.
“The moment he signs for us, I can go into more detail.
“And the other one is of course (Guehi) the answer you always get from me.
He’s not our player.
“Unfortunately he was the captain of the team who we lost against last Sunday (in the Community Shield).
“If you want to have any talks about him you should go to Palace, to Glasner and ask him his opinion about him.”
