Liverpool manager Arne Slot would not be drawn on reports that the club are closing in on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, although he said he could point to a number of solution for replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

When asked about Frimpong at a news conference on Friday, Slot said: "For a whole season it was about contract extensions and now everyone wants to know who is coming in.

"We don't talk about it in public until we sign them and then you can ask me all about it.

Conor [Bradley] can play it, Joe Gomez, so it is not like once Trent leaves I don't know what to do but we are always looking at interesting players, who can improve our squad."
