Arne Slot has revealed Jurgen Klopp’s message to him after winning the Premier League.
The Liverpool head coach took over from Klopp last summer and became only a sixth manager to clinch an English title during his first season in charge.
Slot paid tribute to his predecessor after the win over Tottenham by starting a chant the German to return the compliment paid to him less than a year ago.
Klopp is expected to return to Anfield later this month to see his old charges lift their 20th title after the final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Red Bull’s head of global soccer hailed his former employers’ success in a post on Instagram that said he was ‘extremely positive about the future’.
But ahead of Sunday’s trip to Chelsea, Slot lifted the lid on a congratulatory message that the 57-year-old sent him following his side’s crowning moment.
“He said what most of them said,” revealed the Dutchman.
“He said ‘congratulations’ and ‘now you know how special of a club it is, now you are a part of history as well’, these kinds of things.
“He was really happy for me, the players, the staff and the fans, like we all know Jurgen.
“Maybe I forget a few [who messaged] but I think he was the most famous one.”
Slot also confirmed he is preparing to afford Liverpool’s underused stars more game time by rotating his squad during the season’s remaining games.
He added: “My line-ups will be different than the one we’ve had mostly during the last 10 months as well.
“We’re not going to change everyone, but there will be a few players that come into the team.
There will be a certain rotation in the upcoming games.
“That’s not to say that we are going to lose them, we still have a lot of trust in the players we are going to play now as well.”
