Christian Eriksen is likely to join a new club “soon” having left Man United in July.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 33-year-old’s future with interest from a number of clubs across European football.
Eriksen has been training with Malmo in Sweden in a bid to keep up his fitness ahead of his next move as he remains keen to play at the highest level in Europe.
A number of Championship and Premier League clubs are believed to have been keeping an eye on his situation and are expected to act outside of the transfer window.
However, Eriksen turned down a move to Wrexham in July as he aims to continue his career in the top flight despite the Red Dragons’ ambitious plans for the future.
Top European sides including Ajax have been linked with the midfielder since his departure from Old Trafford, but his eventual destination is still unclear.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Eriksen could make a return to Ajax in what would be the “perfect” move for him.

He made 35 appearances across the 2024/25 season, with 19 of those coming from the start, but concerns emerged at Old Trafford about his physicality given his age.
O’Rourke explained that while he remains available on a free transfer, there is a lot of interest in the attacking midfielder and a return to top-flight football.
“Christian Eriksen is still available as well,” he told Football Insider.
“He obviously spent last season at Man United but left when his contract expired earlier this summer.
“He’s another good free agent and I’m sure there are a number of clubs who are looking at him.

“It’s Premier League and Championship sides, or clubs in Europe who have been having a look at him since he left United as well.
“Eriksen has great experience of playing at the highest level and wants to get back to playing there.
“The player has been waiting to see what offers come in for him, and now that the window’s closed there is likely to be less competition for him.
“That means he’ll get better offers from clubs soon, probably in the next few weeks.
“If there are any major injuries or suspensions, it will open the door for Eriksen to find a new club and get playing this season.”
Another player who United were keen to move on during the summer transfer window was Jadon Sancho, who eventually joined Aston Villa on loan in January.
Brown told Football Insider that United are “delighted” with the loan deal after initially fearing they would struggle to offload his wages in the window’s closing stages.

With just one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, there have been suggestions Sancho could leave permanently on a free transfer next summer.
However, Football Insider revealed on 5 August that Man United plan to extend Sancho’s deal thanks to a clause in his contract which gives them the option for an additional year.
