Aston Villa are set to demand in excess of £80million to entertain offers for Morgan Rogers amid growing interest from Chelsea.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about Enzo Maresca’s plans to sign the 23-year-old in the final month of the transfer window.
Rogers is seen as the “dream signing” for Chelsea, who have been keeping a close eye on his progress at Villa Park after a successful season under Unai Emery.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 28 July that Chelsea have proposed a player exchange for Rogers including cash plus Tosin Adarabioyo and Nicolas Jackson.
However, Villa are extremely reluctant to lose the England international this summer and have no plans to weaken Emery’s squad in the closing stages of the window.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 8 July that Villa are “desperate” to keep Rogers despite the potential financial benefits of his sale in their current situation.

Former Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Villa will turn down any offers for Rogers this summer and are “confident” of keeping him at the club.
The 23-year-old has five years remaining on his contract at Villa Park, placing the club in a strong position to turn down any offers before the window closes.
O’Rourke explained that he is expecting Rogers to remain an Aston Villa player this summer as they aim to price him out of a move away.
“We know he would be the dream signing for Chelsea if they were able to prise him away from Aston Villa,” he told Football Insider.
“The Blues are big admirers of Rogers and see him as somebody who could add quality to their squad.
“They’ve been keeping tabs on his development for a long time and would love to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
“I think the price tag will put off clubs, because they’re looking for in excess of £80million.
“Chelsea would have to be very creative in the market to strike a deal for Morgan Rogers.
“It’s a difficult deal to do for Chelsea and I expect him to remain at Villa Park this summer.
“Villa will be looking to add to their squad, not weaken it in the final stages of the window.”

While Chelsea remain interested in strengthening Maresca’s squad, a number of players have been linked with moves away, including Nicolas Jackson.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 28 July that Man United are unlikely to move for Jackson in the closing stages of the window and will prioritise other options.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 22 July that Man United are interested in Jackson, but will only make a move if the price is right for them.
Chelsea are believed to be demanding over £80million to sell the Senegal international this summer, which would price Ruben Amorim’s side out of a move.
