Crystal Palace are already planning to entertain offers for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in the January transfer window after Rangers missed out with a late bid.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about the 22-year-old’s future after he failed to complete a move before the end of deadline day.

The winger was widely expected to leave Selhurst Park during the summer, but both Rangers and Southampton saw offers turned down before the deadline.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 2 September that Rangers will reignite their interest in Rak-Sakyi in the January window.

Russell Martin is believed to be a big fan of the Palace academy graduate, having previously attempted to sign him for both Swansea and Southampton.

As a result, Brown told Football Insider on 8 July that Rangers are considering signing Rak-Sakyi on loan, but Palace preferred to entertain permanent offers for his signature.

Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Martin was pushing to sign Rak-Sakyi as he aimed to strengthen his squad out wide, but they ultimately missed out on deadline day.

With four months to pass between now and January, a mid-season move is not guaranteed, and could depend on his role at Palace and potential injury issues.

However, O’Rourke explained that Rangers will be keeping tabs on his situation at Selhurst Park with a view to making a fresh move in the January window.

“There was a lot of interest in Rak-Sakyi on deadline day,” he told Football Insider.

“If he’s not figuring in Oliver Glasner’s plans between now and January, I’m sure Rangers will maybe be looking at that situation with Rak-Sakyi.

“It doesn’t look at the moment like he is going to be part of those plans, they were willing to let him go in the summer but couldn’t reach an agreement.

“Rangers are likely to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements.

“Russell Martin is a huge fan and tried to sign him during his time at Southampton, so that interest isn’t going to go away.

“He’s a huge fan of the player, and if he’s not playing between now and January, Rangers will be having a look at him again in the middle of the season.”

Despite the transfer window having ended, there has been no end to the speculation at Rangers, with Martin’s future still under questioning after a poor start to the season.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 September that Rangers are preparing to sack Martin despite Kevin Thelwell’s recent public show of support.

It is believed that a cabal of Gers legends have made it clear to the hierarchy that Martin is not up to the task of transforming the team’s fortunes.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Rangers could cave in to fan pressure as large sections of supporters at Ibrox have called for the manager’s head.
