Everton could sign Tyler Dibling this summer for half of Southampton’s initial asking price, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Everton‘s attempts to sign Saints’ teenage star.
Dibling is seen by Everton as an alternative to Manchester City’s Jack Grealish after their struggles to agree a loan move for the England winger, but a deal for the 19-year-old will could also prove difficult.
Southampton had placed a £100million valuation on Dibling’s head amid interest from Man City and Tottenham in January, but sources have told Football Insider that this could now be halved at least.
Football Insider revealed in May that even Tottenham wouldn’t pay Dibling’s new price tag of £55m in the wake of Southampton’s relegation, and a further fall to £45–50m has opened the door for Everton.
Everton have now joined the race for Dibling after that significant reduction on his original valuation, but sources have told Football Insider that a £45–50m could still be too big an obstacle for the Toffees.

Dr Dan Plumley told Football Insider in June that Grealish’s massive wage demands are the key sticking point behind Everton’s difficulty to agree a deal with Man City, and this wouldn’t be an issue with Dibling.
Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that while signing Dibling won’t be easy for Everton by any means, his new valuation of £45–50m makes their interest in the young winger much more feasible.
“The transfer fee will be an obstacle for any deal for Everton do for him”, he told Football Insider.
“I think Southampton will – in the current market – probably be looking close to £45-50million for Dibling.
“That will be a more realistic transfer fee for him, rather than the initial £100million price tag they’d put on his head to try and scare off suitors.
“I think there’ll be a lot of interest in Dibling, not just from Premier League rivals but also abroad.”

Everton may have entered the race for Dibling after learning of his reduced price tag this summer, but they’re surely at the back of a queue also made up of Liverpool, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.
Tottenham remain interested in Dibling and planned to fund a £55m move by selling off key names like Richarlison and Son Heung-min, both of whom are closing in on moves away from North London.
David Moyes’ desire to strengthen this summer has been hampered by Everton’s inability to get deals for their primary targets over the line, but signing one of England’s most promising young players in Dibling would be a massive statement to make.
