Liverpool are in talks to sell Nat Phillips before the window shuts next week and have not completely closed the door on a new signing, sources have told Football Insider. The Merseysiders will wait until the summer before stepping up the pursuit of their top midfield targets like Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham. But a late-window midfield loan signing is possible as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster the part of his team that has most blatantly malfunctioned this season. This comes as Liverpool negotiate the departure of Phillips amid interest in a permanent deal from at least one Premier League club. Football Insider first revealed last month that Liverpool were willing to let their fifth choice centre-back go on a permanent deal.
Phillips, 25, has only played 65 minutes in the Premier League this season, so may be willing to leave in search of regular first-team football. With James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of contract at the end of the season, Liverpool will then look to add targets like Bellingham.
