Liverpool are unlikely to continue their astonishing summer spending at the same rate in upcoming transfer windows, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseyside club have broken the British transfer record twice over the past couple of months, and accrued a total outlay of around £450million this summer.
Florian Wirtz became the most expensive Premier League signing of all time after making an £116million switch from Bayer Leverkusen, before that was eclipsed by Alexander Isak’s £125m move to Anfield.
However, sources say that the Reds will not be as frivolous with their spending in January or next summer, and that this window was an outlier.

Liverpool have been able to spend so much after clever planning from the board and owners, which saw them hold back in previous windows.
12 months ago, Arne Slot completed just one signing of note ahead of his first season in charge, bringing in Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
However, the lack of activity had a positive impact, as Liverpool cruised to the Premier League title, ending the season 10 points clear of Arsenal.

It also gave the Reds extra funds this summer to add the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, along with the record-breaking signings of Isak and Wirtz.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are set to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Guehi’s move to Anfield was blocked by Palace even after the transfer deal sheet was submitted, with the South London club unable to find a replacement for their captain.
However, sources say that it is expected that Liverpool will go back in for the 25-year-old at the start of next year, when the transfer window reopens.
With his contract at Selhurst Park expiring next summer, Guehi would be available for a reduced price in the new year, which could tempt Liverpool into making another approach.
