Liverpool will look to bring in a wide forward if they cannot sign Alexander Isak this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Reds’ first bid for Isak was rejected by Newcastle United, who were unwilling to let the Swedish striker go for a package totalling £120million.
The 25-year-old has made it clear that he wants to move to Anfield and is set to be left out of Eddie Howe’s squad for the first game of the Premier League season.
However, sources say that if Liverpool cannot get a deal for the Magpies striker over the line, then they will turn their attention to replacing Luis Diaz.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak took a blow after Newcastle failed to complete the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old would have been Eddie Howe’s replacement for the Swede, but instead Sesko joined Manchester United for a fee of £74m.
If the Isak deal falls through, Liverpool will focus on bringing in a winger to fill the void left by Diaz, who recently signed for Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Liverpool will accept an offer of around £20m for Ben Doak this summer.
Both Leeds United and West Ham are pursuing the 19-year-old, who could potentially be leaving Anfield before the end of the window.
Sources say that Liverpool will not stand in Doak’s way if a suitable offer that meets their price tag comes in.
The Scotland international is well down the pecking order under Arne Slot, and would need a move away to guarantee first-team football in the Premier League.
