Man United are keeping a close eye on Harry Kane’s situation at Bayern Munich with as they plan to act on their long-term interest in the striker.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about the 32-year-old’s future and the details of the release clause in his deal with Bayern.
Kane has a release clause in his contract which will become active in 2026, with the initial value of £56million in January, and United are aiming to take advantage.
Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United remain interested in Kane as INEOS see him as a major target.

While any possibility of a move during this summer’s transfer window has been ruled out, his potential availability next year has resulted in a heightened interest.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in March that Kane wants to return to the Premier League amid reported interest at the time from both Liverpool and Man United.
Football Insider revealed in 8 August that Tottenham could re-sign Kane thanks to the matching rights which were inserted into his deal when he joined Bayern in 2023.

The arrival of Benjamin Sesko may have further complicated United’s interest, but the England captain remains a long-term target and a deal would be hard to ignore.
O’Rourke explained that Kane would be open to a return to English football as he still has one eye on breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record.
“Obviously if a player like Harry Kane is willing to come back to the Premier League, there will be clubs very much interested,” he told Football Insider.
“The big question is which English club will be looking to bring him back to the Premier League?
“Obviously, he’s the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League behind Alan Shearer, so that might be in his mind to come back and break that record.

“He’s got a release clause which decreases the closer it gets to the end of his Bayern Munich contract.
“So he could be available from January for around £56million, which would be a bargain for somebody like Harry Kane.
“The only negative is his age, he’s 32 now and will be 33 next season, will any of the elite clubs be willing to go out and sign him?
“If Harry Kane does become available next summer, there’ll be clubs that will be interested because he is guaranteed goals.
“Man United have consistently been linked with him, even in the last couple of seasons of his time at Tottenham before he moved to Bayern Munich.
“I’m sure that interest is still there because he has been a long-term target for them.
“Any move is a way away, there will be more talk about this from January onwards into next summer, but for now his focus is on Bayern Munich.”

Alongside their long-term ambitions of strengthening Ruben Amorim’s squad, United are also prepared to let players leave before the transfer window closes.
Football Insider revealed on 8 August that Chelsea are pushing towards signing Alejandro Garnacho, but must up their offer to reach an agreement.
Enzo Maresca’s side are currently willing to pay £40million to land the winger, while United are holding out for their £50million valuation if they are to sell.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 5 August that Chelsea are confident of agreeing a deal with United and are pushing to do a deal.
