Jack Grealish’s future is in his own hands at Manchester City as Everton and Napoli battle to sign him this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about Grealish‘s options in the market this summer.
Grealish has no future at Man City after being left out of their Club World Cup squad by Pep Guardiola, and Everton are one of several sides looking to sign the winger with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.
Everton are in the market for wide players this summer and have been tipped to seal deals for Grealish and his Man City team-mate James McAtee, although it’s the former who has been more credibly linked.
Now, sources have told Football Insider that David Moyes has backed himself to unlock Grealish’s best form if he does make a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, but that’s easier said than done.
Napoli are also firmly in the race to sign Grealish this summer and could tempt the England star with European football, but similarly to Everton, the Serie A champions are unable to afford his weekly wages.

Football Insider sources have said that Everton may stand a better chance at agreeing a subsidised deal for Grealish this summer, but Man City would still need to contribute a significant portion of his salary.

Football Insider revealed on 1 August that Everton have identified Southampton’s Tyler Dibling as a potential alternative to Grealish, but they remain interested in the 29-year-old given his availability.
Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that although Grealish’s wages remain a sticking point for Everton, Moyes believes he can help to rediscover the form which made Grealish a £100million player.
“It’s going to be a pretty open race for Jack Grealish, there’s no doubt”, he told Football Insider.
“He doesn’t have a future at Man City.
It’ll be a big decision for Grealish wherever he does end up this summer.
“Everton; we know they’re in the market for wingers – I think Grealish would be a very shrewd signing if Everton were able to pull it off, David Moyes backs himself to get the best out of Grealish as well and rejuvenate him.
We remember the off-the-cuff dazzling player he was at Aston Villa when he had the freedom to cause chaos.
“There’s a lot of interest in Grealish, not just in the Premier League but from abroad – Napoli in Serie A are very much interested.
“The sticking point over any potential deal for Grealish is the wages that are involved – whether Everton could afford those, that remains to be seen.
“Maybe Man City might have to contribute to those wages in a possible loan deal.”

Everton could be seen as the most sensible destination for Grealish this summer, and wouldn’t require the winger to relocate while also making him a potential poster boy for the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Football Insider revealed last month, however, that Man City are in no rush to force Grealish out and are willing to wait until the very end of the transfer window before making a final decision over his future.
Moyes may not want to wait that long given his frustrations over Everton’s lack of transfer activity, and it remains to be seen if the Toffees will stay in the hunt for long enough to seal a sensational switch for Man City‘s number 10 at the eleventh hour.
