Nuno Espirito Santo will take charge of West Ham United in their upcoming game against Everton after Graham Potter was sacked on Saturday, sources have told Football Insider.

Amid the Hammers’ woeful start to the new Premier League season, Potter had been under huge sack pressure.

The London Stadium club sit 19th in the top-flight table, having earned just one win from four Premier League games.

In their last Premier League game, West Ham were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace, which turned out to be the 50-year-old’s last game in the London Stadium dugout.

Meanwhile, Football Insider can exclusively reveal that Espirito Santo will take charge of their upcoming away trip to Everton on Monday, 29 September.

That clash will see the Hammers come up against their former boss David Moyes, who steered Everton to a defeat against Liverpool last time out.

Forest recently sacked Espirito Santo following his disagreement with the club’s hierarchy, who opted to replace him with former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.

The 51-year-old steered the City Ground outfit to a European spot just last season, proving that he has the credentials to guide West Ham away from their relegation worries.

Newly promoted Premier League sides Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland have all made solid starts to their top-flight seasons, with the Black Cats performing particularly well.

Those developments intensified West Ham’s relegation concerns under Potter.

However, Espirito Santo’s exploits at both Wolves and Forest shows that he has the credentials to turn the East Londoners’ fortunes around swiftly.

The trip to Everton on 29 September hands the Portuguese boss the chance to prove his worth against a side who have suffered two consecutive defeats across all competitions.

However, West Ham’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday, 4 October, will prove to be a tough test.
