Nuno Espirito Santo is set for crunch talks with Evangleos Marinakis to thrash out his future at the club amid ongoing doubts over his position.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have said about the 51-year-old’s future in the wake of his public comments about his relationship with Marinakis.
All parties are believed to be keen to reach a resolution over the manager’s future, but there are doubts about whether the controversial owner can be won over.
Industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider on 26 August that Forest are considering sacking Nuno with tensions rising among the key powers behind the scenes.
Edu Gaspar has recently been appointed as the club’s Global Head of Football, but the manager has been extremely vocal in his disagreements with their strategy.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 27 August that Forest are already eyeing replacements for Nuno, with Fulham boss Marco Silva firmly on their radar.

Sources say Marinakis is a big fan of Silva and he has emerged among a number of targets to replace Nuno should the behind-the-scenes talks not go as planned.
O’Rourke explained that a breakdown in relations has forced the meeting between the club’s hierarchy and the manager, although there is hope the situation can be resolved.
“It seems like there’s been a breakdown in relations,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s not a great position to be in, with tensions rising with Evangelos Marinakis.
“There are going to be talks between himself and Nuno to thrash out his future at the City Ground.
“Everybody connected with Nottingham Forest will be hoping that those talks between the hierarchy and Nuno will be amicable and a compromise will be agreed.
“He wants to continue the great job he’s done at the City Ground so far, but you never know in football.”
Following a big-spending summer in support of Nuno’s plans, Forest are still working behind the scenes to further improve his squad before the transfer deadline.
Matty Cash has emerged as an option for Forest, and Brown told Football Insider on 28 August that Aston Villa are prepared to let Cash leave this summer.

However, a deal will only be approved if they can bring in a replacement in the coming days as they do not want to be caught short in the market.
Football Insider exclusively revealed in June that Aston Villa are willing to sell Cash but are struggling to drum up interest as a result of his £100,000-per-week wages.
