Hamza Igamane is close to confirming his move away from Rangers after a fee was agreed with Lille for his permanent departure.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about the 22-year-old’s departure from Ibrox after a long summer of speculation.

The Ligue 1 club have triggered the forward’s release clause, and he is now believed to have undergone a medical in France with the move set to be confirmed imminently.

Football Insider revealed on 25 August that Rangers would be forced to accept offers for Igamane should they miss out on qualification for the Champions League.

Following a 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge, talks with Lille progressed quickly, and he is now expected to make the move official before the weekend.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 16 August that Rangers will move to replace Igamane and any other key players who leave before the 1 September deadline.

Igamane stirred up further controversy over his future as he refused to come off the bench during Rangers’ 1-1 draw against St Mirren last weekend.

Football Insider first revealed in April that Rangers would accept “big” offers for Igamane with a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

Now, O’Rourke has explained that the forward’s release clause was met by Lille and he is now expected to make the move to France in a blow to Russell Martin’s side.

“This deal’s edging closer, Lille have now agreed to pay his release clause,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s now just a matter of everything being finalised between the two clubs and the player, and then the deal can be confirmed.

“It’s obvious that Igamane has been very keen to make this move to Lille.

“That’s why he didn’t want to come off the bench against St Mirren last weekend.

So his heart is set on a move to Lille.

“Rangers are now sort of resigned to the fact that he is moving on.”

Iagamane’s future has not been the only uncertainty at Ibrox recently, with Martin now under growing pressure as a result of a dismal start to his spell in charge.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Martin is facing “serious” questions at Rangers with speculation about his position ongoing.

Doubts stemming from the manager’s time at Southampton have been carried over to Glasgow, and there is now a demand to see clear improvements.

Football Insider revealed on 25 August that Martin is under “huge” pressure from Rangers fans with discontent already beginning to grow amongst the supporters.
