Brendan Rodgers is being lined up for a potential return to the Premier League amid growing tensions behind the scenes at Celtic.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 52-year-old’s future at Parkhead after a frustrating summer transfer window.
The board’s apparent lack of ambition has raised questions among supporters and club legends, with many speaking out to express their concerns.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 5 September that Rodgers could quit Celtic as the growing unrest around the club could have a direct impact on his future.
Chants of “sack the board” from supporters at recent games have heightened tension behind the scenes, while the boss is believed to share their grievances in regard to transfers.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 2 September that Rodgers is unhappy with the Celtic board given their lack of urgency or clear recruitment plan.

Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Rodgers is high on Nottingham Forest’s shortlist amid fears that Nuno Espirito Santo could soon be dismissed.

The Premier League side are believed to be sounding out potential replacements in case they decide to pull the trigger, with the Celtic boss a firm option.
O’Rourke explained that the boss is unlikely to “sit around” hoping things get better at Parkhead and instead could move on to a club with bigger ambitions.
“It’s been a very underwhelming transfer window for Celtic,” he told Football Insider.
“Brendan Rodgers was unhappy with the way they did their business.
“It’ll be a frustrating time for him, but whether it has any direct impact on his long-term future at Celtic remains to be seen.
“He’s not too happy because he wanted to build on a success of last season, but that hasn’t happened.

“For Celtic, they don’t want to lose Rodgers with his contract running down, so it’s going to be an interesting few weeks and months in Glasgow.
“Rodgers isn’t going to sit around and wait for things to get better.
“If he doesn’t feel he has the backing of the board to take Celtic to the next level, he could look to move on to a club who are prepared to back him.
“I’m sure there would be no shortage of takers if he did become available, in the Premier League and probably elsewhere as well.”
Rodgers’ frustrations about Celtic’s transfer window come after a busy end to the window, which saw Kelechi Iheanacho arrive after talks with Patrick Bamford.
Following those talks, Football Insider revealed on 5 September that Bamford could find his next club imminently as he continues to assess a number of options.

The likes of Wrexham, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth have all been linked with moves for the former England international, whose future remains undecided.
Football Insider revealed in July that Bamford is open to staying in England or moving abroad with a number of domestic, European and MLS sides keeping tabs.
