Brendan Rodgers has not closed the door on leaving Celtic in the near future amid links with a potential switch to Nottingham Forest.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 52-year-old’s future with doubts beginning to emerge over his position.
Rodgers has just one year remaining on his deal at Parkhead, with no talks about an extension, amplifying speculation that his long-term future may no longer lie in Scotland.
Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Rodgers is high on Nottingham Forest’s shortlist as they consider sacking Nuno Espirito Santo in the coming days.
The boss has long been linked with a return to the Premier League, having made the move before when he joined Leicester City in 2019 before retuning to Glasgow.
Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 25 August that Rodgers could walk away from Celtic if he is offered the Forest job.

Football Insider revealed in April that Rodgers will demand the Celtic board back him and could grow unhappy at Parkhead if they do not agree.

Their lack of transfer activity so far in the summer window has led to further disappointment, and added to the feeling that the boss could walk away.
O’Rourke explained that the lack of contract talks or discussions about the boss’ future have left the door open for his potential departure.
“Brendan Rodgers has been calling out for the club to back him,” he told Football Insider.
“He wants to take Celtic to the next level after their run last year in the Champions League.
“But if Brendan Rodgers becomes available, I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs looking at him, not just Nottingham Forest.
“He’s on a short contract and is into the final year at Celtic brings its own jeopardy as well.
“There’s seemingly been no talks or anything close to being agreed at Celtic.
“Obviously, that opens the door for a potential move away.”
After a slow start to the summer transfer window, the Hoops are hopeful of strengthening Rodgers’ side before deadline day and have set their sights on multiple targets.
Brown told Football Insider on 26 August that Jamie Vardy is open to joining Celtic as he continues to weigh up his options after leaving Leicester in July.

The former Leicester striker is considering offers from a number of sides across Europe but is aware his best shot at success may be a gamble on a move to Parkhead.
However, despite reports elsewhere, Football Insider revealed on 22 August that Celtic’s interest in Vardy is not yet advanced although they remain interested.
