Liverpool know Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is an option should they come up short in their pursuit of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Even though Arne Slot signed Hugo Ekitike earlier in the transfer window, the Reds are desperate to add another forward before next month’s Deadline Day.

Rodrygo has been offered to Liverpool, but the Premier League champions’ preference is still to sign Isak.

Despite so much uncertainty following Isak’s bombshell statement, Rodrygo remains intrigued by the prospect of playing at Anfield, and according to my sources, has been asking the thoughts of someone who knows the club well…

I have been reliably informed that Rodrygo has been talking to Alisson about what it’s like to play in front of The Kop.

Real Madrid’s number 11 and Brazil teammate Alisson have played together 18 times, sharing nearly 1,000 minutes on the pitch.

The pair’s relationship has seen Rodrygo turn to Liverpool’s number one for advice following the keeper’s move from Roma in 2018.

Real Madrid’s two-time Champions League winner has asked Alisson what it’s like to play for the Reds, what living in the area is like, as well as what the team’s culture is like.

Although Alisson has unsurprisingly spoken highly about his seven years at Liverpool, there are no guarantees that Rodrygo joins him at Anfield.

The 24-year-old, also offered to Manchester City, is Slot’s second choice, at best.

A move for the South American depends on whether or not Newcastle United loosen their stance on letting Isak go.

Although Newcastle United’s recent statement about Isak suggested the forward won’t be leaving St.

James’ Park this summer, should the Magpies give any indication of the contrary, Liverpool are ready to swoop.

Owners FSG have already given the nod to CEO Michael Edwards to submit a British record transfer fee.

If Isak were to leave Newcastle United this summer, a deal for the Sweden international would see him surpass Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez (£107 million) and become the country’s most expensive-ever player.
