Russell Martin is facing a monumental task to save his job at Rangers as calls for him to be sacked continue to grow after a dreadful start to the season.
Rangers are winless after five league games and dropped out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion, leading Rangers fans to demand Martin be sacked.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 September that Martin is a “dead man walking” at Rangers with his departure seemingly inevitable.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Gers now face a “huge” clash against Hibernian at Ibrox which could prove decisive for the boss.
Should they progress into the quarter-final of the Premier Sports Cup, it will be the first step towards winning over the crowd, but there would likely be no way back from a defeat.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Rangers are not considering sacking Martin and remain hopeful he can turn around their dismal start.
However, pressure on his position is continuing to rise amid a growing feeling that it would take a huge turn of events for the boss to save his job.

The upcoming clash against Hibernian is expected to prove decisive, and if they do not pick up a positive result at Ibrox, it could spell the end for Martin.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “It’s going to be a monumental task, I think, for Russell Martin to turn things around to Rangers.
“What he needs is results, he hasn’t had results yet.
It’s their worst start to a season in 47 years, still winless after five games in the SPFL in 10th place, it’s not good enough.
“It seems right now the Rangers hierarchy are backing Martin, they want to give him that opportunity to turn things around.

“That’s got a huge game this weekend.
“This Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Hibs at Ibrox, if that was to go wrong, you would say it’s going to be hard for Russell Martin to turn things around.
“It’s already toxic at Ibrox, you saw the reaction from fans after the defeat to Hearts with people singing ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’.
“If he could get a win against Hibs, get them into that semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup, it would be the first step towards winning over the fans.”
While it is expected to be difficult for the boss to win over the supporters who have already turned against him, the only way he can do so is by winning games.
Despite having only been at the club for four months, Rangers fans have turned on Martin, with protests continuing both inside and outside Ibrox.
Protests following their heavy Champions League defeat to Club Brugge saw banners hung outside Ibrox which read: “Get him out now before the seats are empty.”
Football Insider revealed that Rangers could have no choice but to sack Martin if fans carry out threats to stop attending games should he remain in charge.
Brown told Football Insider on 5 September that Rangers could cave into fan pressure and sack Martin if results do not improve quickly.
Having dropped down to 10th place in the SPFL without a win so far this season, that pressure is only expected to grow unless drastic changes are made.
